Design
Speaking of the new design, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus has a new vertical camera module, inspired by the iPhone X. The front panel has a new upgraded ceramic shield and the back panel has color-infused glass, with 4 new colors (Black, Pink, Teal, and Ultramarine). Overall, the boxy shape persists along with the aluminum frame. There is a new Camera Button, which is discussed later apart from the Action Button.
The usability and handling of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are quite similar to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models. The form factor remains the same. Dimensions are pretty much similar to last year’s models as well.
Display
The display sizes remain the same for the iPhone 16, with a 6.1-inch (actual operable area of 6.12 inches), and the iPhone 16 Plus, with a 6.7-inch (actual operable area of 6.69 inches) Super Retina XDR display. These all‑screen OLED displays have 2556 x 1179 pixels at 460 ppi for iPhone 16 and 2796 x 1290 pixels at 460 ppi for iPhone 16 Plus.
These displays also feature Dynamic Island,
True Tone, P3 Wide color gamut, Haptic Touch, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,000 nits maximum brightness (typical), 1,600 nits peak brightness (HDR), 2,000 nits peak brightness (outdoor), and 1 nit minimum brightness. Worth mentioning that the displays come with Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and support for the display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously.
Battery life
On the battery department, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have housed a 3,561-mAh and 4,674-mAh battery, which is around 6% and 6.6% jump from the previous models respectively. These are non-removable Li-Ion batteries, that supports 25 Watt wireless (MagSafe), 15 Watt wireless (China only), 15 Watt wireless (Qi2), and 4.5 Watt reverse wired charging. Can reach 0% – 50% in 30 minutes. Considering the efficiency of the A18 SoC, these base models are to offer impressive battery life.
The iPhone 16 offers video playback up to 22 hours, which is 2 hours more than the iPhone 15. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Plus offers video playback up to 27 hours, which is 1 hour more than the iPhone 15 Plus.
Storage options
Even though it was rumored that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus would start with a 256-GB base storage, these phones came with 128 GB as base storage. Interestingly, the RAM is 8 GB across the entire iPhone 16 series, which can be due to the Apple Intelligence needing more power to operate efficiently when released.

Wrapping up
Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are the lighter versions of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max respectively minus the 12-MP periscope telephoto camera. Even though there are fewer upgrades, these phones will perform better than most other phones with similar prices and specs. Stay tuned for a hands-on review.
