Design

According to Ming Chi-Kou, “the iPhone 16 series will not feature any design changes, as well as there will not be much comprehensive AI integration. These changes will come with the iPhone 17 series.” Thus, on the outer side of iPhone 16 Pro models, you may not see any changes this year. A leak suggests that Apple is planning to incorporate a dedicated Camera button (discussed later) apart from the current Action Button that the iPhone 15 Pro models have right now.

However, on February 17, 2024, Majin Bu tweeted that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will adopt a new camera module. He has posted 2 pictures of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models with the new design.

Camera Button

The Camera button is expected to be placed on the side above the Power button. Speaking of which, this Camera button will be triggered based on pressure and touch of your finger. Remember the Home button of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 series, this will be the same with some added functionalities. Upon pressing the Camera button, the iPhone will open the Camera app. The camera button will allow you to zoom in and zoom out by sliding from left to right and vice-versa. A light and short touch on the Camera button will initiate auto-focus, and a long touch will snap a picture or initiate video recording.

Tetraprism Telephoto Lens

Even though the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max seem pretty identical with their cameras, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max featured a tetraprism telephoto lens in 2023. The tetraprism telephoto lens is responsible for increasing the optical zoom range of the telephoto lens from 3x to 5x. That tetraprism telephoto lens from the iPhone 15 Pro Max may come to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo informed back in September 2023 that both iPhone 16 Pro models will have the same telephoto sensor. Recently, Trendforce pretty much assured that Apple is planning to bring the tetraprism telephoto lens to both the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Battery Life

Finally, we got some leaks about the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro Max as of February 8, 2024. According to Majin Bu’s Tweet, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 4,676 mAh battery. iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 4,422 mAh battery. Hopefully, this increase in battery capacity will allow you around 40-45 minutes of browsing and watching videos on top of the screen time from iPhone 15 Pro Max, i.e. 29 hours of video playback. The battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro has not leaked yet.

Colors

The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro series may feature new colors and decompensate some according to Majin Bu, the leaker who was right about the green iPhone 15. He stated that there will be 2 new colors for the iPhone 16 Pro models. The “Desert Titanium” and “Titanium Gray” are the colors, which are, actually, Yellow and Cement Gray colors respectively. The leaker also stated that these are not 100% accurate leaks but are currently rumors and awaiting confirmation.

Apple Hub recently confirmed color options for the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. These iPhones will feature 4 colors: Space Black, Gray, White, and Rose.

Wrapping up

Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have some intuitive features. Like every year, in 2024, iPhone 16 Pro models will feature new technologies. Stay tuned to be updated.
