PlayStation 5 Pro Specs
Sony has been reportedly working on a new gaming console for months now. Recently, the PS5 Pro has been under testing by Sony’s first-party studios. PlayStation 5 Pro will feature a 3X faster GPU compared to the 3-year-old PlayStation 5 models. YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead and Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming confirmed the GPU specs and the existence of PS5 Pro under the codename Trinity.
Performance
Screenshots from a technical document by Sony showed 67 teraflops of 16-bit floating point calculations, which is around 33.5 teraflops of single-precision computing. This is a 45% improved performance compared to PS5’s 10.28 teraflop console. When it comes to ray tracing, PS5 Pro will be able to outperform PS5 by up to 4 times. Also, there will be a PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) upscaling/antialiasing solution. Therefore, PlayStation’s machine-learning strategy for image upscaling will be “similar to Nvidia’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR.” Considering leaked specs, it is assumed that PS5 Pro may include 8K resolutions as well in the future.

Even though Moore’s Law is Dead is not the most reliable source, Insider-Gaming ensured Sony has been testing PlayStation 5 Pro since September 2023. All the third-party studios have been testing PS5 Pro since January 2024. Therefore, hopefully, PlayStation 5 Pro will be available soon in November 2024.
