Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra: Anticipated
Leaks suggest that this year will have 2 Galaxy Z Fold 6 models. The codename “Q6” represents the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6. Hear me out, the codename “Q6A” probably represents an “Ultra” variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Currently, we just know that the “Ultra” variant will feature an S Pen. Up until now, Samsung has not said anything about the specs of these devices. We are yet to collect leaks on how Samsung will differentiate these 2 models. Stay tuned for that.
Design and Build
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6’s design has been leaked by SmartPrix and OnLeaks. It seems Galaxy Z Fold 6 will look more box-shaped with an overall sleek design. The foldable will be 1.4 mm shorter and 2.6 mm wider compared to its predecessor from 2023. Per SmartPrix, the dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm when unfolded. Per leaked images, there will be little to no gap between the 2 halves of the foldable when folded. Also, when unfolded, the device appears to be perfectly flat. If this is the end product, I must say, Good job, Samsung!
Camera Dilemma
In early February 2024, we received certain leaks about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 adopting Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 200 MP primary shooter. However, Samsung had difficulties with battery and camera sensor placements. On February 16, 2024, we got leaks indicating the 50 MP primary camera of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 from 2023 may also feature as the primary camera for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Leaks also stated regarding the 50-MP primary shooter instead of a 200-MP sensor on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that it was decided “instead of decreasing the battery capacity.”
Apart from that, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 10 MP telephoto camera will be in the main camera module. A 10 MP front cover selfie camera and a 4 MP under-display selfie camera will also be there. Galaxy Club also suggested such leaks and rumors about the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Display and Screen
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 received criticisms for the narrow front cover display. The cover display will be 2 mm wider this year. It is expected that this foldable will go up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness. Samsung will incorporate a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with anti-glare coating into this foldable as well.
Hardware and Software
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile SoC for Galaxy. This is the same chip the Galaxy S24 series is currently rocking. Moreover, there may be either a 12 GB or 16 GB RAM on this device to provide more performance and efficiency, with superfast UFS 4.0 storage.
On top of this, Galaxy Z Fold 6 will debut with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14, which offers several foldable-specific features. Worth mentioning that Galaxy AI will offer more functionalities to the Galaxy Foldables shortly.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 came with a 4,400 mAh battery last year. Galaxy Z Fold 5 offered decent battery life. However, Samsung prefers to improve the battery life of their upcoming foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a ~4,600 mAh Li-Po battery. This leak also suggests that Z Fold 6 will support 25W fast charging like its predecessor.
Release date and Price
Considering the release date of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in late July 2023 instead of August 2023, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be available for purchase around mid-July 2024. Per leaks, Samsung is expected to keep the price of this foldable device stable at $1,800 for the base model. However, we do not know how the anticipated “Ultra” model will be priced.
